Celebrating Our 2025 Centenarians

At AALC, we are honored to have so many remarkable residents who are living well beyond 100 years of age in our Supportive Living communities. Their stories are inspiring reminders of resilience, joy, and the value of every moment.

Each year, we proudly recognize all of the centenarians in our communities and award a special cash prize to Supportive Living’s oldest resident. It’s our way of celebrating their lives, honoring their experiences, and sharing their wisdom with the world.

We invite you to take a moment to meet these incredible individuals and join us in celebrating their extraordinary milestones.

WINNER:
Virginia Weakly
, Heritage Woods of Sullivan
DOB: Nov. 17, 1920   Age: 104

Meet Virginia, a remarkable 104-year-old whose life has been defined by service, creativity, and quiet strength. Born in Decatur, Illinois in 1920, Virginia pursued her love of learning by earning her bachelor’s degree from Millikin University, eventually moving to Bethany, IL to begin a long and fulfilling career in education.

Over the years, Virginia taught every grade from kindergarten through 12th, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. She was known for her dedication, patience, and ability to connect with learners of all ages.

Virginia married and raised two children, all while continuing to share her many talents. A lifelong lover of sewing, she fondly remembers learning the craft by helping her mother make dresses and has always appreciated the joy of creating something new.

Even today, Virginia keeps her mind sharp and spirit high by working on puzzles, playing bingo, and cheering on her beloved Illini basketball team. She loves to enjoy a fresh chocolate chip cookie and, on occasion, a good glass of wine.

When asked to share her wisdom, Virginia offers simple but powerful advice: “Always set a good example when you can.”

At nearly 105 years old, Virginia continues to inspire everyone around her with her grace, resilience, and quiet leadership. She is a beloved member of the Heritage Woods of Sullivan community and a shining example of a life well lived.
